After the recent Fed rate cut ING Direct promptly followed with a rate cut of their own. I love ING Direct for their customer service, great online interface, and $25 bonus but they need to be more competitive with their interest rates. They still beat my local banks rates by a wide margin but there are a lot of online banks I can choose from that have higher rates.
Once choice is FNBO Direct. Their account currently pays 3.50% APY with no minimums or monthly fees. Their customer service and online interface aren’t as good as ING’s. With the considerable difference in interest rates though I’m willing to overlook that. FNBO Direct is still relatively new so I’m hoping that they will improve in those areas.
