Get 6% Yields Now

by Andy Hough on April 1, 2008

There are still 6% yields available for FDIC insured accounts. These are available in high-yield checking accounts. These accounts have a few requirements to earn the high yield. Common requirements are 10-15 debit transactions a month, direct deposit or ACH debit, and receive electronic statements. If you don’t meet the requirements than you are paid a low base rate instead. There usually is a maximum balance of $25,000. These requirements vary from account to account though so be sure to read all the requirements before opening an account.

A great site for finding these accounts is High Yield Checking Deals. If there isn’t an account available near you check out the national deals which are available to everyone. These accounts do require you to jump through a few hoops but with the tiny rates being offered by most local banks they are worth the effort.
