I found this deal at Slickdeals. You can receive a $100 bonus for opening a free LaSalle Direct Plus checking account with direct deposit or free online bill pay. You need to use the code EASE100. The minimum opening deposit is $50. Here are their rules.

The miminum balance to open a Direct Plus Checking Account and earn the $100 bunus is $50. Bonus will not be considered part of the minimum opening deposit. To be eligle for the Bonus you are also required to establish direct deposit OR sign up for free online bill pay. A clarification is in order here: the account is only free with direct deposit, otherwise there\’s a $4 month maintenance fee. Whether a Paypal or ACH transfer would be considered \”direct deposit\” is unknown.

Even if they don\’t count PayPal or ACH transfer as direct deposit you would still make a good amount after paying a few monthly fees. I\’m not sure how long you need to keep the account open.

*Ok. I am the person you\’re thinking of. I didn\’t think you were thinking of me since I rarely post there but I did post there earlier this week.

LaSalle is one of the few banks which doesn\\\’t impose an early account cancellation fee. The only other bank I know of that doesn\\\’t do this is BOA.

(I edited this comment because althought I\’m not really anonymous on this site I would like to stay as anonymous as possible.)

I found out there are other rules too: you have to live in IN, MI,WI or IL to get the $100. I called, looking for the $100 and was told it was only if you received mail advertisement directly

Others have reported getting the bonus despite not receiving a targeted mailer. Doesn\’t mean it will work for everyone. Try it at your own risk.

I tried it and just called in. It didn’t work. I have to send in a letter to close my account now.

Sorry it didn\’t work. This definitely seems like a YMMV kind of deal.

Hi does anyone know if the new account must remain opened for at least six months or so?
